Azertyuiop aimed at King George
December 22 2004
Trainer Paul Nicholls confirmed that Azertyuiop, the two-mile champion chaser, would step up to three miles for the first time in Sunday's Stan James King George VI Chase at Kempton Park.
Ruby Walsh has opted to ride Azertyuiop instead of stable companion and second-favourite Le Roi Miguel. Walsh had initially been expected to ride Le Roi Miguel but he has now switched to Azertyuiop, who he has ridden 10 times in the past. Paul Carberry will now step in to ride Le Roi Miguel.
The seven-year-old Azertyuiop is also entered in the two-mile skybet.com Castleford Chase at Wetherby on Monday. Even though he will more then likely run in the King George, Nicholls may still confirm him for the shorter race.
"I still have the option on Sunday of declaring Azertyuiop for the Castleford Chase at Wetherby on Monday but at the moment he is bound for Kempton along with Le Roi Miguel," Nicholls explained.
