32 Entries for the King George Chase

The 2004 Stan James King George VI Steeple Chase, worth £200,000, has attracted 32 entries. Total prize money for the two days is £575,000.

All the big chasing names are entered including triple Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate, who also won the King George in 2002 as well as last year’s winner Edredon Bleu. Henrietta Knight’s hat trick of entries is completed by Impek. The only question is will it be a hat trick of King George victories?

Other notable entries include Sunday’s impressive Cheltenham winner, Fundamentalist, and the Wigan Chase winner Farmer Jack. Nicky Henderson has the 2003 Paddy Power Gold Cup winner, Fondmort, as well as Calling Brave, who makes his debut this weekend at Windsor.

Martin Pipe has five entries including 2003 King George runner-up and 2004 Martell Cup winner, Tiutchev, 2004 betfred Gold Cup winner, Puntal, Our Vic, Therealbandit and Seebald.

Paul Nicholls has surprisingly entered the 2003 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Azertyuiop as well as Le Roi Miguel.

The Irish Challenge is four fold with Moscow Flyer, Kicking King, Harbour Pilot and Nil Desperandum all entered. The cross channel invasion is the 2000 King George VI Chase winner First Gold, who is the sole French raider.
