King George at Sandown Park for 2005
April 13 2005The Board of Kempton Park Racecourse today announced that Monday, May 2 will be the last race meeting before closing to create Europe's Premier All Weather Floodlit Track.
The flagship Stan James Christmas Festival, featuring the Stan James King George VI Chase, will be condensed to one day and held at Sandown Park on Monday, December 26.
With enabling works already underway on site, construction will begin in earnest following the Jubilee Stakes Day on Bank Holiday Monday, with racing planned to commence on the new high-tech ten furlong, floodlit track in early 2006.
Jumping fans will be pleased that Kempton's schedule of high quality National Hunt fixtures will return in October 2006 on an improved jump track.
